Local schoolchildren visit Burnley care home to sing Christmas carolsDove Court care home, in Burnley, Lancashire, were delighted to welcome three teachers and 11 children from years three, four and five of Casterton Primary Academy to come in and sing lots of Christmas carols for the Residents.

The highlight was when the children journeyed to the home’s dementia community and all the Residents were singing and clapping along to all the songs.

One Resident of the 120-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home, commented, “I could sit and listen to the children all day.”

Another resident added, “It brought tears to my eyes.”

The Residents liked that the children knew all the songs and many commented that the children did really well, and it made for a nice change.

Afterwards the children enjoyed having some chocolate biscuits and a cold glass of juice.

Steph Tillotson, Wellbeing Coordinator, remarked, “The teachers said the children have been practising really hard and we could tell on the day.”
