Lord Mayor enjoys visit to Fleming Court Care HomeFleming Court, in Jesmond, Newcastle was visited on Thursday, 30th July by Newcastle’s Lord Mayor, Karen Moorside.

Residents and Colleagues of the HC-One owned home enjoyed meeting the Lord Mayor for Newcastle, Karen Moorside and chatting to her about what life is like at Fleming Court– which is an integral part of the local Jesmond community.

Lord Mayor, Karen Moorside the open day event at the 69-bedded residential and residential dementia care home, which included a tour of a beautiful show room set up especially for the event. There was areas set up to show the Fleming Court dining experience and a folder of all the activities the Residents have been doing for everyone to look through.

Fleming Court was decorated especially for the occasion, with bright colours and summer themed décor. There was a beautiful feature wall with balloons and lights for photo opportunities.

Lord Mayor Karen Moorside enjoyed spending time with both the staff and Residents at Fleming Court, talking about life at the care home and their open day celebrations. There was lots of delicious food and drinks available for all who attended. Some of the Residents enjoyed a glass of sherry or a wine. 

The entertainment was fantastic! A regular to the home, Deborah Taylor Smith, also known as ‘Wor Vera’ came to sing some 1950’s classics. The Residents and guests saluted and sang the National Anthem in unison as well as some other classics such as My Girl.

“We are proud to support Newcastle, and our Open Week celebrations provided a great opportunity to reconnect with our local community after the challenges of the pandemic, to support community engagement, and to remind our local community that our kind care teams are here if they ever need support for themselves or a loved one.”
