Making furry friends for Bristol ResidentsOn 22nd May 2022, Residents at HC-One’s Amerind Grove care home, in Ashton, which offers nursing and dementia care, were delighted when one Colleague brought in some guinea pigs!

One of the Colleagues’ daughters owns guinea pigs, so these were arranged to be brought into the 106 bedded care home as an ‘animal therapy’ type session.

And the Residents on the Kingsway Unit had a great time! All really enjoyed holding and petting the furry animals, and many talked about how ‘cute’ they were and that they were happy to see them. See pictured the wonderful smiles on faces.

Wellbeing Coordinator Kay Morrison commented, “As we are unable to have any outside entertainers at the moment, I thought they would enjoy them touching. Holding small animals helps the Residents to have a connection with living things and memories from the past.”
