HC-One’s Berry Hill Park Care Home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, has been taking part in National Fitness Day on Saturday, May 3, which celebrates strength and empowerment through fitness and exercise to inspire individuals to stay fit and healthy.
The home hosted an hour-long exercise class from Gfitness, who provide exercise classes for those living in care, older adults and people with disabilities. Gfitness motivate and encourage residents to take part in a gentle workout session using exercise bands and footballs.
The team at Berry Hill Park invited Gfitness into the home to host the exercise session as the classes have a number of physical and mental wellbeing benefits for residents. These include improving their mobility and helping them to maintain their independence; falls and injury prevention through balance and strength training.
They also enhance their immune system and resistance to illnesses and increase their social interaction.
Afterwards, the residents enjoyed recuperating from the exercise session with a cup of tea, a biscuit and a chat.
Tara Spencer, Home Manager at HC-One’s Berry Hill Park Care Home, commented:
“Residents really enjoy the Gfitness sessions. Gfitness create safe, fun and functional classes for everyone to participate in no matter what their ability level is which improves their wellbeing and happiness.”
