Residents at Melbury Court Care Home in County Durham recently took part in a lively and colourful seated ribbon dancing session, bringing smiles, movement, and music to the day.
Led by the home’s Wellbeing Coordinator, Amanda Sergeant, the activity encouraged residents to participate from the comfort of their chairs, using brightly coloured ribbons to music. Designed to support mobility, coordination, and wellbeing, the session created a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere filled with laughter and encouragement.
Seated ribbon dancing is not only fun but also beneficial for physical and mental health. The flowing movements help promote flexibility and upper body strength, while the music sparks conversation and fond memories among participants.
Amanda Sergeant, Wellbeing Coordinator at Melbury Court, said:
