Middlesex care home Resident wins national Christmas card competitionIt was an absolute honour when Aston House residential memory and nursing memory care home, in Hayes, received a phone call and an email stating one Resident had won the HC-ONE Christmas card competition.

Every year, HC-One opens the competition to Residents from more than 300 of their care homes to get their creative heads on and submit an entry. The winner’s design is then used as the official HC-One Christmas card, to be used by homes and Colleagues throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.

This year there were hundreds of amazing entries, and the winner was declared as Alice Emamalie of Aston House

Alice was stunned when Colleagues told her that she had won the competition. She was filled with happiness and excitement, commenting “My vision of art is a success!”

When Colleagues described the artwork Alice had done, they said she had put her whole heart and soul into that incredible piece of art along with their support. She had imagined the painting and explained it to Colleagues before she began working on it.

The artwork depicted a snow scene with ice-skaters and snow and was a hit throughout the whole of HC-One.

Colleagues at Aston House stated, “We are so proud of our beloved Resident Alice Emamalie and so lucky to have her among us in our care home!”

Fellow Resident Marjorie predicted the outcome, previously stating, “That piece of art deserves winning.”

Seema Jose, Care Home Manager, commented," It was an immense pleasure helping Alice to fulfil her vision of the Christmas card. The outcome was really outstanding.”

“It is so lovely seeing our Residents involved in various activities which keeps their body and mind occupied.”
