Millbrook care home Residents turn 103 and 104This festive season, a huge celebration has happened at Millbrook care home, in Stalybridge, Tameside, as two Residents celebrated their triple figure birthdays, tallying up 207 years of birthdays between them!

In the morning of 8th December, the home was delighted to receive a visit from Civic Mayor of Tameside, Mike Glover, who honoured the invitation to come and visit Millbrook to celebrate the birthdays of Residents, Mollie (aged 103) and Ivy (aged 104).

Colleagues wanted to make it a special memory for everybody involved, providing a chance to spend time with family and friends, and take lots of pictures.

In the afternoon, the home welcomed the children from the local nursery to sing carols. They wrapped up well and braved the cold to come and bring cards for the two celebrated Residents. The joy and warmth were evident as Residents played and talked with the children. The children also received chocolate and new books as a Christmas present from the home, which they enjoyed reading when they returned to the nursery.

Mollie, Ivy, Sheila, Jackie, Vicky, Barbara, Elise, Joan, Lillian and Liz, who all live at the 46-bed residential care home, said they thoroughly enjoyed the events of the day and meeting the mayor.

One of the Residents commented, “It was a great pleasure meeting the Mayor of Tameside. We truly thank Councillor Glover for his words and his presence. “

Claire Jones, Care Home Manager at the Millbrook, remarked, “We had a wonderful day celebrating Ivy’s and Mollies birthday at Millbrook. Colleagues pulled out all the stops to ensure that Ivy and Mollie have a special birthday.”
“We truly appreciate our guests' visit and for making their birthday even more special. What a wonderful day, and a big ‘thank you’ to my Colleague Alina for arranging the mayor visit, and the children it made the celebrations that bit more special.”
