Northumberland care home celebrates Burns NightResidents and Colleagues celebrated with traditional food, drink and music at HC-One’s Acomb Court in Hexham.

Residents spent a relaxed morning watching past footage of the Edinburgh Tattoo before sitting down to enjoy a special Scottish lunch with haggis, neeps and tatties for their main course, closely followed by clootie dumplings or cranachan for dessert.

One Resident commented: “The lunch was cooked perfectly. What a lovely idea.”

A Colleague read the Selkirk Grace and Residents ate to the sound of Scottish bagpipes.

In the afternoon, Residents enjoyed a wee tipple of whisky or Drambuie while they had a sing song and a dance to their favourite Scottish tunes.

They settled down for a late supper consisting of Cullen skink soup followed by relaxing chit chat over a cup of tea and plenty of Scottish sweet treats, including snowballs, tablet and Dundee cake.
