One to one wellbeing activities at Jarrow care homeOne Resident, at Needham Court, residential and residential dementia care home, in Jarrow has been spending some one on one time doing her favourite activities.

Sheila Clarke, a Resident, absolutely loves her pet poodle called Percy. Percy regularly visits Sheila with her daughter Anna. Sheila is always so happy when she sees her dog and it makes her day.

Lesley Norris, Wellbeing Coordinator, has gotten to know Sheila well and knows how much her poodle means to her, so she decided to ask Sheila if she would like to do some art to represent Percy.

A silhouette of a poodle was printed out and Lesley gathered some buttons to make button art. Sheila enjoyed picking out all of her favourite colours and buttons of all shapes and sizes to create the picture. Once the artwork was completed it was framed and it turned out wonderful.

Sheila was so happy, and this also made a great talking point. She remarked, “Thank you Lesley for helping me do this.”

Joann Mills, Care Home Manager, said, “What a beautiful idea and a great way to interact."

The finished artwork is in Sheila’s room, proudly sitting on her table.
