Pancake Partners for Life: Adelaide House Celebrates Pancake Day with Joy, Laughter and Community SpResidents and colleagues at Adelaide House Care Home in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, marked Pancake Day with laughter, teamwork and plenty of delicious treats, as resident Yvonne Grover and Kitchen Manager Joana Smith officially declared themselves “Pancake Partners for Life”.

The pair teamed up in the kitchen to mix batter, flip pancakes and share plenty of jokes, proving that the best recipes start with love, a sense of humour and just a tiny sprinkle of “Oops… did we put too much in?”. Their fun partnership delighted fellow residents, who gathered to watch, taste the creations and share in the celebration.

Yvonne Grover said:
“I’ve always loved Pancake Day but doing it together with Joana made it really special. We had such a laugh in the kitchen – and the pancakes tasted even better because we made them together.”

Kitchen Manager Joana Smith added:
“Cooking with Yvonne was such a joy. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and moments like this remind us that food isn’t just about nutrition – it’s about connection, memories and happiness.”

The Pancake Day celebration was part of Adelaide House’s ongoing commitment to involving residents in everyday life and activities within the home. From helping in the kitchen to taking part in events and creative sessions, residents are encouraged to share their skills, interests and personalities, helping to create a vibrant and inclusive community.
