Residents at Peniel Green Care Home in Llansamlet, Swansea, have been fully immersing themselves in the festive spirit of the Chinese New Year. The home was brought to life with vibrant Chinese decorations, including banners, lanterns, and pictures of the Chinese New Year Horse, lovingly crafted by residents alongside Lisa Sullivan, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator.
The celebrations extended to the Dining Room, where tables were beautifully set in Chinese style and residents had the opportunity to sample delicious Chinese cuisine.
Adding an educational twist to the festivities, the home hosted a Culture Talk with a local Chinese businesswoman. The session proved a hit with residents, sparking engaging discussions and a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture.
“Residents thoroughly enjoyed getting involved with making decorations and learning about Chinese traditions,” said Lisa Sullivan, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator. “It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and enjoying the celebrations.”
Rhian Dummer, Home Administrator, added, “It was a truly memorable day for all at Peniel Green. Activities like this are so important for wellbeing and connecting with different cultures.”
The team at Peniel Green Care Home looks forward to continuing to celebrate diverse cultural events that bring joy and learning to residents throughout the year.
