Pet encounter at Penrith care homeResidents at Winters Park care home in Penrith were extremely excited for some furry friends to pay a visit.

Pet Encounter, Cumbria are a petting zoo based in Cumbria, who travel to schools, care home and events along with a array of animals.

The Residents of the 40-bed residential and residential dementia care home were thrilled to hear the petting zoo were coming along to the care home.

Pet Encounter brought along lots of small and cuddly animals for them to pet, cuddle and feed.

They brought along Henry the parrot, Storm the chinchilla, Ben the meercat and lots of other fluffy animals. 

The Residents loved holding, grooming, and snuggling up to the animals. Everyone involved really enjoyed the day, the Colleagues got involved and lots of fun was had.

Colin, said, “Such a soft and fluffy animal, I have never seen a chinchilla before.”

Kate Lewis, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Seeing the Residents faces light up when they saw such cute and fluffy animals is a delight!”
