December is always a busy month for care homes up and down the UK, as everyone prepares for the end of month festivities; and Roxburgh House care home, in Cradley heath, is no exception.
Today, some of the Residents enjoyed icing some Christmas cookies using coloured icing and pre-made cookies. Michael and Mona, both Residents, especially liked eating their finished cookies afterwards with a nice cup of tea!
Maureen, who lives at Roxburgh House, commented, “I always iced cakes when I was younger.”
Another Resident, Jean, said it made her fingers sticky, but she didn’t mind at all!
Spreading even more of the festive spirit, the home received a present donation this week. ‘Just Crafty’, a local organisation, who are also based in Cradley Heath, had a wishing tree where people could take a leaf and then donate a present to the person named on that lead. The home has been overwhelmed by the response and had so many kindly donated gifts for Residents to open on Christmas day.
Linda Wilkes, Home Manager, said, “I can’t believe how much has been donated, it is incredibly kind and we would like to say a huge thank you for even just thinking of us during this time.”
Yesterday at Roxburgh House, Colleague Vicky Portman won a 12 days of Christmas prize! This year HC-One randomly picks out Christmas winners in all care homes across the UK in the 12 days leading up to 25th December. And Vicky won one of the lovely bottles of champagne to enjoy over Christmas. The Residents congratulated Vicky and watched as she had her pictured taken.
Linda remarked, “We were all certainly jealous of Vicky but it is well deserved and just in time for her anniversary, so I am sure she will enjoy it!”
