Pumpkin carving and Halloween fun at SilverwoodLast month at Silverwood in Nottingham, which provides residential, nursing and dementia care, Residents enjoyed Halloween with various different activities.

In preparation for Halloween Residents got involved with carving some spooky and funny faces into pumpkins. It was a really fun activity with Residents sharing stories, and as it turns out nobody actually likes eating pumpkin! Many of the Residents said as children they used to enjoy going on trips and picking pumpkins around Halloween.

On the Sunday, Colleagues had put some celebrations and fun games for the Residents to get involved in, there was also some spooky music and snacks to be enjoyed.

One Resident said, “I loved the activities, they brought back lovely memories” and another went on to say, “I normally try and do a scary face for pumpkins, but this year I did a funny face instead”.

Debra, the Home Manager said, “It was nice to see the Residents having fun, the pumpkins were really good”.
