Radcliffe care home residents spearhead inspiring community litter pick initiative

Residents at HC-One’s Rose Court Care Home, in Radcliffe, have taken to the streets to combat litter by transforming their neighbourhood alongside the local ‘Radcliffe Litter Pickers’ group.

The initiative saw participants from the care home – which specialises in residential, nursing, and dementia care – collect three large bin-bags of litter. This initiative highlights the power of intergenerational collaboration and civic pride.

The event not only beautified the streets surrounding Rose Court but also promoted a sense connection for the residents. Armed with grabbers and enthusiasm, the group tackled litter across neighbouring areas, proving that age is no barrier to making a difference.

Allison Porter, HC-One’s Rose Court Wellbeing Coordinator, said:

“We had a lovely morning walking and going at our own pace. It’s really rewarding helping keep our local streets stay clean.”

Irene Kennedy, resident at HC-One’s Rose Court Care Home, said:

“We’ve had a lovely day, I particularly enjoyed using the grabber to pick up litter!”

Leanne Batten-Smith, HC-One’s Rose Court Care Home Manager, said:

“It’s absolutely amazing to see our residents helping to keep our community clean and tidy. Well done all!”
