Residents at HC-One’s Admirals Reach Care Home in Chelmsford, Essex, marked Burns Night with a lively afternoon of celebration, games and traditional treats – all in honour of Scotland’s national poet, Robert (Rabbie) Burns.
Born on 25 January 1759, Robert Burns is celebrated around the world for his poetry and songs, including the much-loved Auld Lang Syne, which famously begins: “Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?”
To mark what would have been Burns’ 267th birthday, residents at Admirals Reach embraced the spirit of the occasion by dressing up and taking part in fun, Burns-themed activities. While there was no haggis on the menu, residents enjoyed delicious shortbread alongside games and fascinating facts about the poet’s life and legacy.
The afternoon sparked plenty of conversation and laughter, as residents shared memories, learned more about Burns’ work and enjoyed spending time together celebrating a cultural tradition that has stood the test of time.
