Residents at Godden Lodge Care Home Enjoy Creative Flower Arranging SessionResidents at Godden Lodge Care Home in Benfleet, Essex, recently enjoyed a relaxing and creative afternoon of flower arranging, bringing together residents, visiting family members and staff in a colourful celebration of creativity and connection.

The session saw residents designing their own floral arrangements, with visiting relatives also getting involved, creating a warm and sociable atmosphere throughout the home. Participants chose from a variety of flowers and foliage, arranging bouquets to reflect their personal tastes and styles.

Flower arranging is known to offer a range of wellbeing benefits for older people, including sensory stimulation, reduced anxiety and improved cognitive function. The calming, hands-on activity encouraged residents to engage their senses, focus on creativity and enjoy meaningful conversation with others.

The session also encouraged social interaction, with residents sharing stories, discussing favourite flowers and exchanging ideas on different arrangement styles. Conversations continued after the activity, with residents proudly displaying their arrangements in their rooms and communal areas.

Lewis Chester, Home Manager at Godden Lodge Care Home said:
“Activities like flower arranging are a wonderful way to support our residents’ wellbeing while bringing people together. It was lovely to see residents and their families enjoying the activity side by side and sharing their creativity.”
