Residents at Godden Lodge in Benfleet were delighted to welcome back Together in Musical Expression (T.I.M.E), an Essex-based charity dedicated to making music accessible to everyone.
This was the charity’s second visit to the care home, and the talented duo once again brought joy and energy through an interactive musical session. T.I.M.E focuses on breaking down barriers to music for people living with dementia, mental health challenges and special needs, helping participants connect through rhythm, song and instruments.
Their inclusive approach strongly reflects the values at Godden Lodge, where staff believe that music can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere and by anyone.
During the session, residents were encouraged to sing along, play instruments and take part in the performance. The room quickly filled with smiles, laughter and the sound of music as residents embraced the opportunity to get involved and express themselves.
Residents were particularly entertained by fellow resident Peter Clackett, who once had a song in the UK charts in 1976 under the name Beckett Brown. His track One Way Street remains a firm favourite at the home, and whenever entertainers visit, they often play the song so Peter can sing along with the microphone. A real character among residents and staff alike, Peter never fails to bring smiles and plenty of applause as he performs the catchy tune.

“Music is such a powerful way to bring people together and create special moments. Our residents absolutely love visits from T.I.M.E, and it was wonderful to see everyone joining in, playing instruments and enjoying the experience together. Sessions like this are always a highlight for our residents and staff alike.”
The care team at Godden Lodge regularly organises engaging activities to support residents’ wellbeing, with music sessions continuing to be a firm favourite.
