Residents at Haslington Care Homes Welcome Visit from Local MPHC-One’s Hollymere House and Primrose House Care Homes in Haslington, Crewe, Cheshire, were delighted to receive a visit from Connor Naismith, MP for Crewe and Nantwich, on Friday 1st August.

Residents and colleagues from both HC-One care homes enjoyed the opportunity to meet their local MP and talk with him about life at Hollymere House and Primrose House. The visit provided a chance to share insights into the important role the care homes play in the local community and to highlight the quality care and activities offered to residents.

Hollymere House is a 48 bedded care home, offering residential and nursing care and Primrose House is a 42 bedded care home, providing nursing dementia and residential dementia care. Both homes are proud to be part of the HC-One family, focused on kindness, care and supporting older people to live their best lives.

During the visit, MP Connor Naismith was given a tour of the facilities, including resident bedrooms, pubs, hair salons, lounges, landscaped gardens, and communal areas. He spent time engaging with residents and team members, learning more about their experiences and the day-to-day running of the homes.

Xesh Phakathi, Home Manager at HC-One’s Hollymere House Care Home, said:

“We were delighted to welcome MP Connor Naismith to Hollymere House. His visit meant a great deal to both our residents and colleagues. It provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the care sector, particularly the challenges we are facing with social care funding and how it is affecting our residents, our local community, and how we can collaborate to ensure residents continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve. We also touched on the changes in immigration rules which has a huge effect on some of our dedicated carers. It was reassuring to know that the MP’s office is willing to step in and support with any challenges we are facing.”

Dawn Sadler, Home Manager at HC-One’s Primrose House Care Home, added:

“It was a pleasure to host MP Connor Naismith at Primrose House. He took the time to engage with residents and staff, listening closely to their experiences and concerns. Visits like this are vital in highlighting the outstanding work happening across the social care sector every day. It was great to talk to MP Connor Naismith about the services Primrose House has to offer and what a great network we have built up over the last few years.”

Connor Naismith, MP for Crewe and Nantwich, commented:

“Thank you to Dawn and Xesh for showing me round Hollymere House and Primrose House. I was delighted to speak with so many residents at each of the homes, who kindly invited me to sit with them for tea and join in a weekly bingo session.

“The staff at Hollymere House and Primrose House go above and beyond for their residents – down to memorising everyone’s tea orders and building an allotment for those with green fingers.

“Health and social care is a top priority for this government, and I will continue to support places like Hollymere House and Primrose House to look after people in the later stages of life across Crewe and Nantwich.”
