Residents at HC-One’s Charters Court Care Home in East Grinstead, West Sussex, enjoyed a relaxing and colourful morning recently as they took part in a flower arranging session designed to promote wellbeing, creativity and social connection.
The session encouraged residents to engage their senses through the colours, textures and fragrances of the flowers, while also supporting fine motor skills, coordination and cognitive stimulation. Residents chatted, shared memories and supported one another as they carefully selected and arranged blooms, creating a calm and uplifting atmosphere throughout the home.
The finished arrangements are now proudly displayed around Charters Court, bringing colour and cheer to communal areas and residents’ rooms, and giving everyone a sense of pride and achievement in seeing their work enjoyed by others.
Julie Harper, Home Manager at Charters Court Care Home, said:
“Activities like flower arranging offer so many benefits for our residents. They help to promote relaxation, boost mood and provide valuable opportunities for social interaction. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and taking such pride in their creations, and the flowers have really brightened our home.”
Meaningful activities such as this form part of Charter Court’s commitment to providing kind, person-centred care, supporting residents’ physical, emotional and mental wellbeing while helping them to continue enjoying hobbies and interests they love.
