Residents from Crofton Springs Care Home in Cheltenham were treated to a special day out at Highgrove Gardens as part of The King’s Foundation Winter Warmers initiative.
The much-loved Winter Warmers programme returned in February and March, offering members of the local community a welcoming space to connect, socialise and enjoy seasonal hospitality. Designed to help tackle social isolation during the colder months, the initiative brings together local organisations for warm, friendly gatherings featuring activities, hot drinks and light lunches.
Crofton Springs was delighted to be offered 10 places at the final Winter Warmer event on Wednesday 18 March. The visit was arranged by Deputy Home Manager, Shannon Eldridge and Home Administrator, Holly Powell, who accompanied residents for the special outing.
Upon arrival, residents were warmly welcomed and introduced to other guests before enjoying a delicious homemade soup lunch. The group also had the unique opportunity to meet the King’s chef, adding a memorable touch to the experience. With the sun shining, residents later enjoyed afternoon tea before heading outdoors to explore the beautiful gardens and take part in activities or socialise with others.
Resident Ann Henderson was particularly taken by the stunning flowers and orchard and embraced the opportunity to socialise independently with other attendees. Charlotte Pumfrey enjoyed viewing the photographs of the Royal Family displayed around the estate. Both residents shared how much they appreciated the chance to get out, try something different and meet new people.
Holly Powell, Administrator at Crofton Springs Care Home, said:
“Everyone had the best time; it was such a beautiful day. Everyone was so friendly, and it was lovely to see the ladies socialising with people from different communities. The hospitality was outstanding, and meeting the King’s chef was an incredible experience. We are so grateful to have been invited.”
The visit highlights Crofton Springs Care Home’s ongoing commitment to supporting residents’ wellbeing, providing meaningful experiences, and maintaining strong links with the local community.
Crofton Springs Care Home is currently offering an introductory offer for new residents, with four weeks of care for the price of three, providing families with an opportunity to experience the high-quality, person-centred care on offer at the home.
