Residents watch Ducklings hatch at Walditch care homeThere were some amazed expressions at The Hyde care home, in Bridport, as Residents watched their newly hatched ducklings take their first steps in the home.

Throughout the last few weeks, The Hyde, which offers residential care, has been the home to several incubated eggs, which have gradually started to hatch.

On 24th May, two eggs initially hatched and now the rest are underway.

A hot water bottle wrapped in a towel has been used to keep the ducklings warm.

There has also been a surge in demand for duck food, as the hatchlings have a great appetite.

Everyone was so pleased to have the ducklings at the home, and all have enjoyed watching them move about when on the ground, feeling their fluffy feathers and holding them.

Rebecca Dawe, Care Home Manager, commented, “It is fabulous, a really good talking point. We all love a cuddle with our ducklings!”
