HC-One’s Mountview Care Home, in Rothley, Leicestershire, marked Mental Health Awareness Week (May 12-18) with a vibrant lineup of activities for residents, colleagues, and the local community to enjoy.
The week was filled with moments of joy by showcasing the power of simple pleasures like fresh air, music, and laughter. The week kicked off with heartfelt community outreach on Wednesday, May 14, as Home Manager Peta Goodwin-Hill visited a local hospital to deliver goodie bags, spreading kindness and cheer.
On Thursday, May 15, residents and colleagues connected with nature after a serene escape with a scenic boat trip along the Peter Le Marchant canal, followed by a relaxing picnic. On Friday, May 16, the home buzzed with energy as residents and colleagues embraced laughter yoga, led by instructor Heena Chauhan, filling the air with giggles and positivity.
Peta Goodwin-Hill, HC-One’s Mountview Care Home Manager, said:
“Mental Health Awareness Week is a great opportunity to remind ourselves how important it is to look after our emotional well-being. Whether it’s through a boat trip, a song, or a simple act of kindness, every moment counts – and our residents certainly made the most of it.”
The week culminated in a lively celebration featuring live music by singer Rob Wilson and an open bar, where residents, families, and friends danced and sang together.
