Residents at Rowley Park’s residential dementia care home,
Maple Lodge, have been very busy over the last week making scrapbooks and having a Disney themed day.
On 9th August, the home had a Disney themed day where all staff dressed up as their chosen Disney character and did an afternoon tea style party.
Colleagues, including Mackenzie Griffin and Emily James, decorated all the tables with lovely teapots and cups, balloons and diamond decorations. They also arranged to have the local ice-cream van come for dessert as well as a singer to come in and sing some Disney songs. All staff and Residents had a brilliant day and enjoyed having a dance.
Today, the activity was scrapbook making. Residents have started making scrap books for family members to be able to look through and read; giving them the opportunity to see what they have been getting up to.
The Residents love doing crafts and choosing what colours and designs they want. One commented, “This is a lovely idea, it looks so colourful!”
Sarah Dodd, Care Home Manager, commented, “The Disney day was fantastic and it was nice to see the Residents enjoying themselves and smiling. They all loved seeing staff dressed up!”
“We can’t wait to see the finished scrapbooks which are already looking wonderful!”
