Springtime news from Tameside care homeAt the Millbrook residential care home, in Stalybridge, spring has been celebrated in full force by both Residents and Colleagues in the form of Easter celebrations and a trip out for some local pub grub.

On 15th April, an Easter bonnet competition was held at the home, where spring was definitely in the air as Residents showcased the best of their creative talents with a wide range of colourful and attractive designs.

Colleague Jackie commented, “I’m looking forward to seeing all the bonnets!”

Resident Margaret added, “Here is hoping we all win!”

The winner for the best bonnet was awarded to May, who lives at the home and was thrilled to have come out on top. Second place went to Jean, with Jackie and Tina in third.

Residents also showed their artistic flair by drawing and painting an easter egg, to place in the home’s beautiful Easter tree.

All the resident loved taking part and plenty of chocolate Easter eggs were enjoyed too.

The following week, on Thursday 21st April, Residents enjoyed a trip out for Lunch at ‘The Hare and Hounds’, which is on the top of one of Tameside’s highest points, Werneth Low.

Residents Olivia, Barbara and Sheila joined Colleagues Alina and Gavin for a lovely meal on a nice spring afternoon, a place that they had all been to before.

After much deliberation the ladies all chose the gammon, obviously a very popular dish! Glasses of rose and Guinness were also flowing nicely.

Claire Jones, Home Manager, remarked, “The Residents really enjoyed the trip out and the food was lovely, the alcohol went down well too. We will be going back to this establishment as the staff were most accommodating!”
