St. Patricks Day celebrations at Harefield care homeAt The Harefield in Middlesex, which provides nursing and nursing dementia care, Residents have been celebrating St. Patricks Day.

As there are a number of Irish Residents who live at the Harefield, the Irish spirit is and has always been quite strong! This year, Colleagues wanted to create a truly meaningful celebration with the help of the Residents. Wellbeing Coordinators Amber and James flooded the home with Paddy’s Day decorations, and all Colleagues proudly wore green. The Wellbeing Coordinators also assisted the Residents in decorating cupcakes with green marzipan, marshmallows, and Irish-themed cookie cutters.

To top off the day, a fantastic local singer, Chirag Goyate attended the home and performed a special Irish set that had the whole home on their feet. He sung classic Irish jigs like ‘Irish Eyes are Shining’ and ‘Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo’. James also got himself up and had a lovely dance with Maureen, an Irish Resident who couldn’t stop smiling. She went on to say, “I loved dancing to my favourite Irish childhood songs”.

Relatives who attended the party commented, “The singer was absolutely brilliant, he knew how to get the crowd going and it was lovely to see everybody enjoying it”.
Judith, a Resident at The Harefield also commented, “I had a fabulous time watching the singer, he was absolutely brilliant. If I could’ve jumped out of this wheelchair I would’ve been dancing!”

Rebekah, the Home Manager was full of praise for the Wellbeing Coordinators, she said, “What a brilliant job Amber and James have done. It was a wonderful occasion that brought smiles to everybody”.
