HC-One’s Woodlands View Care Home have embraced equality and celebrated the rich cultural diversity of its residents after launching “Food Around the World”, a monthly cooking initiative designed to honour the global traditions and tastes of the community in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
Beginning this month, on the second Thursday of every month, Woodlands View residents will be treated to a specially curated menu inspired by a different country’s cuisine. This initiative aims to provide a delightful and varied dining experience that caters to a broad range of preferences while recognising the unique cultural heritage of its residents.
Kicking off this journey is the vibrant and flavoursome cuisine of China. This month’s menu includes:
• Chicken Chow Mein
• Egg Fried Rice
• Sweet & Sour Chicken
Shawn Heppenstall, HC-One’s Woodlands View Head Chef, and the dedicated kitchen team have worked closely to create authentic and delicious dishes that truly capture the spirit of Chinese cooking.
Barbara Isted, HC-One’s Woodlands View Care Home resident, shared her enthusiasm:
"I loved the Chinese food - it tasted amazing. Having these themed meals makes life so much better."
The success of the “Food Around the World” initiative is part of Woodlands View’s ongoing commitment to promoting wellbeing and happiness among its residents through engaging activities that celebrate life’s joyful moments.
