Stevenage care home Resident offers a helping hand during home renovationRobert (Bob) Young, a Resident at HC-One’s Woodlands View Care Home in Stevenage rolled up his sleeves and got to work helping with the homes ongoing refurbishment.

Woodlands View is currently undergoing an extensive investment programme which began in January 2022, the refurbishment will modernise and enhance the living environment for Residents.

The team invited Bob to assist with the redecoration work and he was delighted to participate, he enjoyed chatting with the workers and asking questions about the different work that is being done. Bob was especially fond of using the cordless drill and commented that it was a big change using a drill that didn’t have a cord and plug attached.

There was a great atmosphere in the room whilst everyone was working, both the decorators and Bob had a wonderful time, so much so, that Bob offered to help again.

Speaking with Bob afterwards, he shared that the decorating brought back happy memories of moving into his last house and painting the walls orange.

Resident at Woodlands View, Bob Young commented:
“I’ve had such a great time; I really like painting”.
Woodlands View Home Manager, Deby O'Hare said:
“I am so pleased that Bob enjoyed helping with the decorating, the smile on his face really said it all.”
