Trip to Blackpool for Fir Trees ResidentsAt Dukinfield’s Fir Trees residential and residential dementia care home, on Tameside, some Residents voiced that they wished to go to the seaside, so Activity Coordinator Karolina Kubach was on the case and arranged for a lovely day out on Wednesday 22nd June.

Cath Buxton, Fredrick Goodwin, Jean Fricker, Michael Vilder, William Penkett, Harry Roberts, Marjorie Pedder and Joan Dennehy joined Colleagues in two minibuses and arrived at the seaside resort. They had a walk along the promenade in the glorious weather and all the Residents couldn’t stop smiling.

For lunch, Colleagues booked a table at a local restaurant Lilley’s and everyone enjoyed their food.

Afterwards, the group went to the North Pier where some of the Residents had some hot donuts and ice-cream, all sat and watched the sea. The view was beautiful, before heading back home.

Cath said, “I loved every second of today, especially the looking at the sea.”

The trip also sparked lots of reminiscing with Residents talking about how they used to come to Blackpool as a child.

Mike remarked, “Thank you for taking me to the seaside, you’ve made my day”

Jean added, “I’ve had a great time thank you so much.”

Karolina commented, “It was so lovely to see all Residents so happy, they all had a great time and couldn’t stop thanking us. It’s nice to see them enjoying being out.”
