During the last two weeks in July, the Birmingham care home re-opened the garden for family visitors, and Colleagues certainly marked the occasion in style.
The grounds were decorated in banners and handprints made by the Residents and staff organised for handprints to guide families to their visiting sections, to avoid cross-contamination and adhere to social distancing, as well as greet each other in person and celebrate a huge welcome back!
“Residents really enjoyed creating the banners and it gave them hope that the end is in sight”, one Colleague remarked. Everyone found comfort in seeing their loved ones again, without a window in between them. Social distancing guidelines were followed at all times but it allowed each Resident to hear a familiar voice and see a familiar face clearly.
One Resident said, “It has been a long time coming and I have loved seeing my family without a window in between”.
Another commented, “It has been wonderful!”
Home Manager, Theresa Ingram-Gettins, observed, “It has been lovely to see Residents enjoying their visits”.
All staff at the home would like to thanks family for following all of the guidelines. This has enabled the visits to run smoothly and safely.
