The dedicated team at HC-One’s Westwood Lodge Care Home, in Wigan, has earned well-deserved rest after an inspiring sunrise trek up Mount Snowdon to raise over £2,500 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
The early-morning ascent, undertaken in challenging conditions, demonstrated the team’s commitment to supporting the hospice, which is a valued community partner providing vital care.
The heroic colleagues who completed the gruelling climb were Michelle Quinn, Julie Guest, Louise Foster-Gannon, Rebecca Dobson, Shay Quinn, Wendy Hardy, Lee Gallagher, and Emma Mulqueeney.
Their months of training and teamwork paid off, not only in conquering the mountain but also in making a meaningful difference for the hospice’s patients and families.
Resident Winnie praised the team’s effort, saying:
“Well done, that must have been very hard.”
Karen McGrady, HC-One’s Westwood Lodge Care Home Manager, stated:
“I’m incredibly proud of everyone who took part. Their hard work and dedication to this challenge reflect the amazing spirit of our team.”
Chris Swinton, Wigan and Leigh Hospice Events Fundraiser, stated:
“The Hospice needs to raise £12,000 each day to continue providing end of life care to the community, this is why we were absolutely delighted when Louise and the team said they wanted to take on our Snowdon Sunrise Trek.
“It was wonderful to see so many of them get involved and we are extremely grateful for all their help and support. Their donations will go a long way in helping to keep our services running. We can’t wait to see what this adventurous team will do next!”
HC-One’s Westwood Lodge Care Home provides nursing care for up to 76 residents, and they continue to strengthen its bond with the local community through initiatives like this.
