Wigston care home Resident celebrates birthday to rememberHC-One’s Magna care home Resident Avis was delighted to celebrate her birthday at the home recently, sharing her day with fellow Residents and friends, however, the day was made even more special as she received a certain surprise.

Avis has always been a musician, and in her youth she created an orchestra for orphaned children in 1957, devoting her entire life to helping people through the power of music. For her birthday this year, her close friend decided to do something extra special for Avis in celebration of all she has done – she arranged for the orchestra – the Leicester Orphean Youth and Concert Orchestra - to come and play at the home for Residents.

The orchestra set up in the garden area of the home, with Residents sat in the lounge admiring them, with Avis conducting the orchestra from a distance as they played.

Avis was overjoyed to have the opportunity to conduct the orchestra again. The Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon, with them also indulging in an afternoon tea and cake to celebrate with Avis for her birthday.

Avis commented: “This has made my day, what an incredible performance! I feel so honoured and proud.”
