Worcestershire care home chicks delight ResidentsResidents at Broadway’s residential and nursing care home, Brompton House, have been enjoying a new life being brought in!

Everyone was watching intently as the chicken eggs hatched today, and turning into beautiful little chicks.

Many of the Residents could straight away recognise difference between male and female chicks. They have hatched over two days and they visited every Resident, putting a smile on their faces.

It was very therapeutic experience, especially for the Residents who were not able to leave their beds due to their complex medical needs. Some Residents would spend a day sitting and talking to them to ensure they are feeling comfortable in Brompton House.

Residents have named each chick after their favourite drink; Merlot, Gin, Tea, Cherry, Whiskey, Champagne, Baileys, Apple Juice and Squash.

Everyone loved holding the chicks and watching them playing with each other. The hatching moment was magical.

One Resident remarked, “I would like to have more animals back in the building. It would be nice to have ducks back again.”

Another Resident added, “It was lovely to see a new life being born, it brought so many memories back.”

Julie, who is an activities Colleague, said, “Our Residents enjoyed it so much, they named each chick with the name of their favourite drink which was just brilliant!”
