HC-One care homes support local charities and children in need this Christmas

Across HC-One’s family of care homes, we have been supporting local charities and community initiatives this Christmas - with residents and colleagues coming together to give back and spread kindness during the festive season.

At Fosse Way View care home in Bingham, Nottingham, residents from the home’s much-loved Knit and Natter group continued their annual tradition of donating handmade items to the local community. This year, residents created ten hand-knitted blankets and ten knitted teddies, which were donated to the children’s unit at the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham. The group, which meets weekly, worked together to lovingly craft each item, offering comfort and cheer to young patients over the festive period.

Meanwhile, at Ebor Court care home in York, a resident-led initiative inspired a wider Christmas giving project. Resident Shirley shared her wish to help children in need this Christmas, which led to residents and colleagues joining the Samaritans’ Christmas Shoebox Appeal, creating and sending 11 gift-filled shoeboxes for children. The home also launched a Christmas toy collection to support local families, with donations distributed through York foodbanks and delivered to children in York Hospital.

In Telford, Priorslee House care home proudly supported Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas, serving as a collection point for gifts and donations. The campaign aims to help ensure children across the Midlands do not wake up without a gift on Christmas morning. With support from residents, colleagues and the local community, donations collected at the home were delivered to Mission Christmas headquarters to be distributed to children in need.

These initiatives highlight the generosity and compassion shown across HC-One care homes, with residents and colleagues working together to support local charities, families and children during the festive season.
