HC-One celebrates finalists at the National Care Awards 2023Three HC-One colleagues and care homes from across the UK have been shortlisted as finalists by the judging panel at the National Care Awards 2023.

The awards celebrate the very best in the long-term care sector and highlight excellence, rewarding those individuals who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care. The three finalists were carefully chosen in recognition of their hard work, kind care shown to residents, relatives and colleagues as well as the dedication and passion they show day-to-day to ensure the people they support receive the best quality care.

HC-One’s finalists for the National Care Awards 2023 are:

•    Gigi Jacob, Home Manager at Highclere Care Home, finalist in the Care Home Manager of the Year Award Category

Gigi has been a qualified Registered General Nurse since 1999. Gigi qualified in India and went on to work in Highclere in 2019 as Deputy Home Manager before progressing to the position of Home Manager.

Since becoming Home Manager of Highclere Care Home, the home has improved significantly. Gigi’s clinical skills, attention to detail and passion about providing outstanding care has taken the home from a history of ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ and has successfully two years in a row achieved many elements of ‘Excellence’ with their Provider Assessment and Market Management Solution (PAMMS) auditing. PAMMS is an online assessment tool which helps assess the quality of care being delivered by adult social care services.

Gigi is patient, compassionate and has supported many colleagues in the home to develop and progress in their careers with careful consideration to their attributes which has resulted in positive successful outcomes. Gigi is always actively seeking feedback to make improvements, and this has resulted in the home being as successful as possible.

•    Amal Baby Mohan, Care Assistant at Primrose House Care Home, finalist in the Care Newcomer of the Year Award Category

Amal moved to the UK in December 2022 from India and started working at Primrose House as a Care Assistant in January 2023.
Amal exemplifies kind care and is an asset to the home. Amal has a positive attitude and always comes to work every day with a huge smile on his face. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and he always goes above and beyond whilst at work. Amal will often stay behind and continue with additional duties and even offers to support the home on his days off. His work is of an extremely exceptional high standard, and he is a team player.
Amal has already been nominated for two HC-One Kindness in Care Awards and Colleague of the Month Awards.
Relatives are always feeding back about the high quality of care that Amal provides and his kind, approachable smiling face.
•    Primrose House Care Home, finalist in The Dignity & Respect Care Home of the Year Award Category

Primrose House Care Home in Crewe, Cheshire, displays outstanding dignity and respect. The home is rated overall as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and has a 9.8 average user rating on Carehome.co.uk.

Ensuring a resident’s dignity at Primrose House is of paramount importance. Residents are supported so they feel their identity or values are not being respected. Colleagues allow residents to express their values so they can keep their dignity and remain independent, recognising and encouraging their capacities and ambitions. Dignity is always at the heart of Primrose House and every high-quality personal care plan.

The care plans are all tailored to the exact needs of the individual, which provides carers with the opportunity to learn each resident’s capabilities, what they like and dislike and how they like to be treated. This method ensures that dignity is at the forefront of each resident’s care and supports the overall commitment of Primrose House to treat everyone with respect.

This year marks the 25th National Care Awards. The ceremony will be taking place on Friday 24th November 2023 at the Platinum Suite in London, when the winners will be announced. HC-One are proud to sponsor the ‘Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year Award’ category at this year’s awards.

James Tugendhat, HC-One’s Chief Executive, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have three HC-One finalists for the National Care Awards this year. This is an amazing achievement, and I am so proud of our finalists.

“Being shortlisted as finalists at these prestigious awards is a testament to the dedication of HC-One’s Colleagues.
