HC-One colleagues go the extra mile for charityColleagues across HC-One care homes have been going the extra mile this September to raise money for causes that mean so much to them and their communities. From long-distance walks to brave haircuts, their fundraising efforts have been heartfelt expressions of compassion, strength and kindness.

30 miles in 30 days for Dementia UK at Leighton Court

The team at Leighton Court care home in Wallasey have set themselves the challenge of completing a 30-day sponsored walk in aid of Dementia UK.

So far, they have already covered almost 18 miles, taking every opportunity to walk together in their local community and around the garden – even when the weather has been less than kind. Plenty of tea and biscuits have helped to keep energy levels high along the way.

Wigan Pub Walk raises £1,300 for Kidney Research

Meanwhile, colleagues at Ash Tree House care home in Wigan took part in the annual Wigan Pub Walk, raising over £1,300 for Kidney Research UK.

Their fundraising efforts were inspired by Deputy Home Manager, Joni Bramwell, who earlier this year donated a kidney to her sister. The walk became both a celebration of Joni’s incredible act of courage and a show of solidarity with families affected by kidney disease.

A brave haircut for The Little Princess Trust at Meadow Bank House

At Meadow Bank House care home in Bolton, one of our carers, Winnie, made the brave decision to cut her hair for The Little Princess Trust.

Cheered on by colleagues, it was an emotional moment, with tears of pride as Winnie’s selfless act will help provide wigs to children and young people living with hair loss.

Celebrating our kind, caring communities

These fundraising stories highlight the difference our colleagues make not only in our homes but also across the wider community. They believe in caring with kindness both in and outside of work, and it shines through in the way they give their time, energy and support for others.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and grateful to everyone who supported, donated or joined in along the way.
