The Applewood, a brand-new 78-bedroom residential care home in Milton Keynes, has officially opened its doors, welcoming its first residents and celebrating with a grand opening event.
Local MP Chris Curtis and Mayor Marie Bradburn attended the opening ceremony, meeting with members of the care team before touring the home and learning more about its vision and commitment to high-quality care.
Nearly 100 guests explored The Applewood’s outstanding facilities, which include spacious lounges and dining areas, a café, a hair and beauty salon, a cinema, and a private dining area for family celebrations. Visitors also enjoyed a specially prepared refreshments menu from The Applewood’s catering and hospitality team.
Adding to the special occasion, local supplier Elegant Design provided beautiful balloon arrangements, and a commemorative poem written by local resident Mr. Yap was displayed to mark the home’s opening.

HC-One’s ongoing investment in care
The Applewood is the latest addition to HC-One’s new build programme, which saw the opening of two care homes in Cheltenham and Oswestry in 2024, alongside three homes in York, Bingham, and Telford in 2021.
This programme complements HC-One’s £93 million refurbishment and upgrade initiative—the UK’s largest ever care home upgrade programme—which is modernising over 200 HC-One care homes to enhance comfort, facilities, and specialist care environments.
