Residents at Meadowlands Care Home in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, are enjoying a new way to relax, connect, and engage their senses through weekly Namaste sessions in the home’s dedicated Namaste Lounge.
These specially designed sessions offer residents a calm, soothing environment where they can benefit from gentle hand and head massages, soft ambient lighting, and calming nature sounds. Aromatherapy scents and a variety of sensory objects provide additional stimulation, creating a holistic experience that promotes wellbeing and relaxation.
Residents have particularly enjoyed interacting with hug dolls and the therapy cat doll, which provide comfort, companionship, and a sense of reassurance. The combination of tactile, visual, and olfactory experiences has proven highly beneficial for residents, helping to reduce stress, improve mood, and encourage engagement in a safe and nurturing environment.
“The Namaste sessions are a highlight of the week for our residents,” said Zoe Morgans, Wellbeing Coordinator Meadowlands Care Home. “They offer a peaceful space where residents can unwind, explore new sensations, and enjoy meaningful moments of connection and comfort.”
Meadowlands Care Home continues to prioritise innovative approaches to care, ensuring residents have access to activities that support their mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
