Residents at Highgate care home try new activity from TiktokResidents at Highgate, nursing and nursing dementia care home, in Uddingston, Glasgow, have been working alongside the Wellbeing Coordinators in creating new games and activities.

The activity consisted of Residents sat in a circle with a rainbow umbrella suspended from the ceiling. Residents used colourful plastic ball and they had to try throw the balls into the umbrella.

Some Residents were throwing into the umbrella, some were picking up the loose balls and throwing them into the bag and some Residents were using a Zee, one of the Care Assistants as target practice! Residents did this while listening to upbeat motivational music.

It was great to see Residents taking in a group activity, Helen, one of the Residents involved, was laughing and smiling while trying to throw the balls in the umbrella.

The idea came from a TikTok and went down well with the Residents. They kept challenging one another and by the end of the game they were pro!

Charlene Curtis, Care Home Manager, commented, “Here are Highgate care home we have decided to try and take the TikTok crazes and implement them into our activities and create our own games for the Residents to take part in.”
