Spennymoor care home shortlisted for awards at the National Dementia Care Awards and Great British CAt HC-One’s Lothian House care home in Spennymoor, a 47-bed residential and residential dementia care home, has been shortlisted for awards at the National Dementia Care Awards and Great British Care Awards.

Home Manager, Jill Carr, has been shortlisted for Best Dementia Care Manager Award at the National Dementia Care Awards and The Palliative Care/End of Life Award at the Great British Care Awards. Jill has over 20 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.

Having worked at Lothian House and Tenlands for a number of years, Jill closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

The Care Team at Lothian House, have been shortlisted for The Care Team Award at the Great British Care Awards. Lothian House Care Team consistently develop innovative ways to drive up their standards, skills and expertise for the benefit of all the Residents. The team came up with the idea of ‘Champions’ that would become ambassadors within the home for a particular area of work. The ‘Champions’ role promotes and enables positive outcomes for Residents, by ensuring the whole teamwork towards quality of life for Residents and they have recognized the major contribution this makes to the Resident’s overall health and wellbeing.

Area Director, Lynn Lant, who nominated both Jill and The Care Team for the awards, said:

The National Dementia Care Awards consists of eight which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The 12th National Dementia Care Awards 2022 will be held within the grounds of the outstandingly beautiful Winchester Cathedral.

The Great British Care Awards consist of 21 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the Great British Care Awards 2022, Regional Awards for the North East region takes place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, in Newcastle on Thursday 10th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the North East regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023 taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.
