HC-One care homes welcome MPs during UK Parliament Week 2025

HC-One care homes across England and Scotland and Wales have been celebrating UK Parliament Week by highlighting the positive relationships being built between residents, colleagues and their local Members of Parliament.

Throughout the past few weeks, several HC-One homes have welcomed MPs to tour the home, meet people living and working here, and hearing directly from residents about their experiences of life in care.

Meaningful visits across our homes

Mavisbank care home in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, welcomed Susan Murray MP, who spent time speaking with residents and colleagues while touring the home’s communal areas, ensuite bedrooms and garden areas. Colleagues described the visit as a valuable opportunity to share the strong sense of community within the home.

At Hawthorn Court care home in Hebburn, residents enjoyed brunch with Kate Osborne MP, followed by a relaxed question-and-answer session. Ms Osborne also invited residents and colleagues to visit the Houses of Parliament in the future - an offer that was met with great excitement.

Littleton Lodge care home in Hednesford, Staffordshire, welcomed Josh Newbury MP, who explored the home’s welcoming lounges, dining spaces, sky bar and garden areas. He spoke with residents about the home’s activities and the supportive environment created by colleagues.

Meanwhile, residents at Lime Trees care home in Shrewsbury enjoyed an engaging visit from Julia Buckley MP, who toured the home and ended her visit by joining residents in a lively singing session.

Supporting resident voice and community relationships

These visits offered residents valuable opportunities to ask questions, share their experiences and engage in meaningful conversations.

They also gave colleagues a chance to showcase the warm, supportive environments within HC-One homes, and the wide range of activities and person-centred care delivered every day.

Our commitment to community engagement

HC-One continues to strengthen connections between care homes and local representatives, ensuring resident voices remain at the heart of conversations about social care.

As UK Parliament Week highlights the importance of democratic engagement and community participation, these recent visits demonstrate just how valuable these relationships can be for residents, colleagues and local MPs alike.
